Salt-N-Pepa Cheryl “Salt” James, a member of Salt-N-Pepa, recently revealed in an interview with Tamron Hall that she was pressured to have an abortion when she became pregnant during the group’s heyday. Although Salt did not disclose who urged her to have the abortion, her story highlighted the challenges of balancing motherhood and a career in the music industry. In the interview, Salt admitted, “I was actually—I don’t think I’ve ever said this out loud. I was actually asked to have an abortion, I won’t say by who.” She went on to say that handling a career and motherhood simultaneously can be difficult, but it is possible if one believes they are capable of doing so. Ignoring the request turned out to be the right decision for Salt, who shared her love for motherhood with Tamron Hall. She expressed that having her daughter was one of the best experiences of her life, explaining, “I needed that little baby in my life. She kept me company on the road.” Salt-N-Pepa is set to join the rotating cast of LL Cool J’s The F.O.R.C.E. Live Tour, which kicks off in June. The tour boasts a stellar lineup of hip-hop legends, including Queen Latifah and Rakim.
